For more than 20 years, nonprofit organization H.O.P.E. (Helping Our People in Elsinore, Inc.) has been assisting the people of Southwest Riverside County who need basic necessities.
More than 1,400 families (5,000 individuals) receive food, clothing or other basic items each month, with nearly half of the individuals under 18 years old. During the fiscal year of 2011-2012, H.O.P.E. distributed nearly 900,000 meals.
The all-volunteer group, which was created by several area churches, has about 250 volunteers that run the organization’s pantry program, Fresh Rescue program, USDA commodities program and clothing program.
The pantry program distributes food to low-income seniors and families, including single-parent teenagers, families identified as in-need by Lake Elsinore Unified School District (LEUSD), and families referred by DPSS.
